Hi Nux,

Do you think it is possible to port Audacious audio player ?

I think a good version would be 2.44 or 2.45; i know that from 3.0.. they migrated to GTK3.

Here is the main webpage http://audacious-media-player.org/

Thanks Wink

Update: a good alternative is Deadbeef http://deadbeef.sourceforge.net/

I see they are still using gtk2, even for v 3+, but this application has a lot of dependencies, I'll see what I can do.

Not a problem; if it is too difficult - maybe Deadbeef is more light on dependencies. Cheers Smile

Nah, I'll try to get audacious done, I'll almost half through the dependencies.
Quick question: what's wrong with rhythmbox?

About Rhythmbox - Nothing Smile but is "not my cup of tea".

Long ago, during my Windows days - my favorite audio player was Winamp; in Linux i found shelter with XMMS; after the development stopped i used different apps but i was not satisfied.

Audacious back then was a CPU hog - 9 - 12% usage, the interface was slow etc. About 1-2 years ago they restarted its development and now is super fast; it's interface is simple;i have my music organized in folders and i just take one and drop it on the playlist and that's it.

I don't use stores, radio, podcasts and i don't even need album art Smile so from this perspective and from a light resources perspective Audacious and / or Deadbeef are perfect for my daily usage. Still i want to have a GUI type app instead of a CLI one Very Happy.

Cheers Wink

Well, in this case:

yum install xmms xmms-mp3

I'm still going to build audacious, though, don't worry.

Later edit: damn, xmms is still awesome!

Ok, it's done, did a little testing, seems to work, let me know if you run into issues with it:

yum install audacious
