Good day!

I tried using fedora 19's mesa-vdpau-drivers rpm but it didn't work so I just want to know if it can be compiled for CentOS 7 or if not, which srpm source is suitable?

I'm using ATI graphics card and this is the error that I get

vdpauinfo
display: :0.0 screen: 0
Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_r600.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Error creating VDPAU device: 1

Thanks!

Hello,

Can you try if this works for you (might leave you without X, so delete these files if they misbehave)

mkdir -p /usr/lib64/vdpau
wget -P /usr/lib64/vdpau http://tmp.nux.ro/jfgi4-mesa7/libvdpau_r600.so.1.0.0
ln -s /usr/lib64/vdpau/libvdpau_r600.so.1.0.0 /usr/lib64/vdpau/libvdpau_r600.so.1
ln -s /usr/lib64/vdpau/libvdpau_r600.so.1.0.0 /usr/lib64/vdpau/libvdpau_r600.so
rm -f /etc/ld.so.cache
ldconfig

I have the same problem. I used my workaround: (link later! )

It works until ffmpeg-libs update.

So I tried your libvdpau_r600.so.1.0.0 file, and i can cornfirm it's working.

It is compiled to centos 7? Will be rpm package later?

Vladi,

Yes, this is built from the EL7 SRPM on EL7.
The Mesa SRPM - although it supports this - on EL7 is not built with this vdpau feature; it is intentionally disabled.
I may be able to come up with an RPM later on.

BTW, you can always open a RH bugzilla entry and ask for the feature to be turned on.

Thanks!

Hi,

Sorry for the late response. First of all, thank you so much for your help! When I executed vdpauinfo, I didn't get the same error I posted above although for some reason, I get an error when I try to play a video in SMPlayer.

libavformat version 55.48.100 (external)
Mismatching header version 55.33.100
libavformat file format detected

Right, Mplayer might need rebuilding because of ffmpeg. I'll do this shortly.
Does the video not play at all?

Yes, it does not play at all and I tried several videos as well but still the same error.

I really appreciate your help! Smile

I've issued updated packages, let me know if it fixes it, please.

Hello,

Here's the error when I try to play a video

[vdpau] Failed creating VDPAU decoder: An invalid/unsupported VdpDecoderProfile value was supplied.
[vdpau] Failed creating VDPAU decoder: An invalid/unsupported VdpDecoderProfile value was supplied.
The selected video_out device is incompatible with this codec.
Try appending the scale filter to your filter list,
e.g. -vf spp, scale instead of -vf spp.

And have you tried "mplayer -vf spp, scale file"?

Hello,

I should have tried executing mplayer in terminal in the first place. At first, I tried the command you posted but it displayed "spp doesn't exist" so I just typed "mplayer name-of-video" and it worked! I'm using SMPlayer when the error I posted occurred so I tried MPlayer-GUI and it worked as well. It's kinda weird because I've been using SMPlayer in Xubuntu for quite some time now and I had no problems playing videos.

Thank you!

Well, glad it's working then.
Perhaps you can tweak some of the options in Smplayer to make it play nicer with the other kids etc. Smile
