i have another request, one that is beyond my knowledge to install manually: kupfer. it's basically a much more powerful version of gnome-do written in python. i tried to compile its dependencies, but always ended up breaking gnome. it needs quite a few, including some python packages and i think zeitgeist.

homepage: engla.github.com/kupfer/

of course i totally understand if it's too complicated to get working in stella.

thanks again,
bamdad

Funny that you brought it up as I was just contemplating this software a couple of weeks back.
I'll try to have a more serious look at it, but will need to wait till I get some days off, this can't be a "10 minute backporting from Fedora" job. Smile

Give it a try:

yum --enablerepo=nux-dextop-testing install kupfer

If it works well I can move it out of testing.

tested it, works great, but there's a problem with the hotkey: the default one doesn't work, and every custom one i've tried 'cannot be bound'. might be an issue with python-keybinder..

Yes, it is possible. I kind of forced the python-keybinder to build against GTK 2.18 (instead of the "minimum required 2.20"). I'll look more into it tomorrow.

Bamdad,

Ok, I talked to the developer and the GTK in EL6 is too old. I had to downgrade keybinder to from 2.2.0 to 0.0.9.
So, please try to reinstall:

yum remove kupfer keybinder python-keybinder
yum --enablerepo=nux-dextop-testing clean all
yum --enablerepo=nux-dextop-testing install kupfer

It should work now.
Let me know how it goes.

Glad to hear that.
I'll give it a week or so and if you don't come back with issues in the meanwhile I'll add it to the main repo.

Thanks.

Yep, looks like I've cleaned up the testing repo and kupfer with it. I'll try to rebuild it. Smile
